you remind me of someone,
someone i faintly knew
someone who smiled a crooked smile

what?
a crooked smile?

yes,
a smile that is not sure of itself,
almost questioning
the need to express
but then at the same time,
knowing that a smile
would probably be the most fitting
instead of a frown

yes,
a smile that is insecure
and troubled
with years of pain it has gone through,
and years more of crises faced,
and years more of tears down those lines
and years more of those coming,
a smile that is
in its own way,
humble,
crumbling down with age
and perhaps,
a little bit of rage
because
the smile is never reciprocated.

a smile that has a mind of its own,
that little wrinkle on the left
left behind
to suffer
the void and the vanity
of human face.
