Intersubjective Understanding:
By Alfred Schutz from his The Phenomenology of the Social World (1967)
Your world stream of lived experience is not open to me. To be sure, your stream of lived experience is also a continuum, but i can catch sight of only disconnected segments of it. We have already made this point. If i could be aware of your whole experience, you and i would be the same person. But we must go beyond this.
You and i differ from each other not merely with respect to how much of each other's lived experiences we can observe. We also differ in this: When i become aware of a segment of your lived experience, i arrange what i see within my own meaning-context. But meanwhile you have arranged it in yours.
Thus i am always interpreting your lived experiences from my own standpoint. Even if i had ideal knowledge of all your meaning-contexts at a given moment and so were able to arrange your whole supply of experience, i should still not be able to determine whether the particular meaning-contexts of yours in which i arranged your lived experiences were the same as those which you were using. This is because your manner of attending to your experiences would be different from my manner of attending to them.
However, if i look at my whole stock of knowledge of your lived experiences and ask about the structure of this knowledge, one thing becomes clear: this is that everything i know about your conscious life is really based on my knowledge of my own lived experiences. My lived experiences of you are constituted in simultaneity or quasisimultaneity with your lived experiences, to which they are intention ally related. It is only because of this that, when i look backward, i am able to synchronize my own past experiences of you with your past experiences...
(something like blogging and coming across all the bloggers, including me, who put up their segments of lived experiences and i take in those within the realm of my lived experiences and experience them the way i know it to be....)
Individualism ..for it to be beautiful for you ,it must mean something to you . No one can really judge any any one ..I guess God can if he or she is to exist then again if he/she is to exist then he/she created every little thing and every little thing happening around is Gods doing ,then too he/ she cannot judge anyone excepts himself/herself ..oh i think i know the term for individualism ,i think i read it somewhere i think it is called Will To Power ,i think but i am not sure about it .. it is about individualism right or is it about understanding others but i wrote all that ahhh
ReplyDeleteya i think you got the point....and of course, there is no right and wrong, as they say, in sociology hoina ra? mmmm..abo timile explain garne individualism ra maile explain garne individualism pani ta farak parcha hola ni...God lai he or she bhanda baru it bhannu parla jasto cha hai...ali gaaro hune k lekhna...
ReplyDeletesame same hair affects brain see ,no right and wrongs ,every life has its own story ,about the 'it' part i don't know if i can say it ,i am not sure if god exist or not but in terms of English vocabulary referring god as 'it' would be not so nice, also the god we are speaking of is god of humans , also i believe my society or my culture to be precise has a part to play here ,i do not know if god exist or not ,then again i do fear god(all too fearful god ) oh , how society creates fear deep inside and devours on our heart .... ,so ironically i am saying i am not sure but i am sure ,do try to look beyond my craziness wongi wongi ,.... There is no destiny is there ? i am asking you this question to see if am right about you or not ,sorry for that wongi but i think i try to understand people not judge them , its true i think and i think i understand bit of you and i am just trying to prove my self right oh the vanity hai wongi ..
ReplyDeletedo you have to read Durkheim? and his work on Religion? well, it might help a bit to understand what god is. and also rituals...ya that might help. well i dont know..."it" would just make it very easy to write down i guess. What destiny? you believe in destiny?
