friends

I promised (?) a friend that I would blog about 'irritating combination' today. So here is goes:
Life, life is irritating. It is like a grain in your eye, like a stone in your soup, like a nagging feeling in your head. Life is irritating.

What makes it bearable: friends.

You worry for them, you care about them so much that the 'irritating combination' becomes the heart of the friendship. You fret over their lack of punctuality, you go mad because they miss important deadlines, you go sour because they manage to somehow hurt you, you shower away all your love for them because you know, they care. You fight along with them because you know s/he is not strong but you aren't as well. You tag along dates because you are already a part of their love. You take a sip of that chilled beer in that chilled mug although every time you take one sip in, you think about that drunk bastard who hit you in your chest that evening while returning home (not that beer makes you drunk). You can't help but think how awesome they make you feel. You breathe in the smoke because you know at heart, they are not smokers. You listen all afternoon to their rants because you remember that one night when you were so depressed and called him/her up, s/he listened to you. You can't wait for the weekend to end up and therefore, every Friday means you get to meet your friend, stressed out and swamped with work load that would crash her computer. Every Friday means you get to be a part of each other's insignificant two-three hours of free-time and blurt out everything, I mean everything that has happened to you that day. There is a charm in knowing a person and you call that person a friend because there is so much more fun learning about each other rather than knowing who s/he is.

Maybe in the darkest of hours, you cry alone but that is just life and you need to get over it.

You look at your friend's pale face and realize how hard life is for him. He has lost some weight. You try to look into his eyes but he will avoid and still you can see it that he just wants to cry perhaps. But not in front of everyone. Because life is irritating and sometimes friends too.

You look at her and think "How the heck does she manage to do everything and still sound wise?" You look at her face that matches yours, and somehow you want to hug her tight before she leaves you with the rest.

You look at him, your new irritating combination and you know there is much more to him than the jokes he cracks up. Because you know he cracks up, or at least tries to, everyone into laughter. Not because he wants to be funny but because he cares.

You look at this new person every time and simply cannot figure him out. You try to find a connection, may be it does not work, you try again. You talk about art.

You look at this old friend in a new light. You realize how far you two have come. You look at him again, he shares a knowing glance, just between you and him. He will make you feel special because you make him feel so too.

And then this pops up in your chat box "aja i had such a good day" and it just lights up your face.

I know. Life is an irritating combination of chaos and uncertainty and sometimes, friends help bring some sense into it.
